My journey into yoga started in 2001 shortly after my daughter was born. I was looking for something to calm postpartum nerves and for a new physical outlet. I got more than I could have ever bargained for! Yoga has been my BFF from the first day I stepped on the mat. It was at that moment I never felt alone again, and although the journey has been a bumpy one at times, it has carried me through some of the most difficult challenges in my life.
Interestingly enough, even before I fully felt the effects my practice, I knew I would be a teacher. I just didn't know when. For many years I was a single mother just getting through the day. I could not afford teacher training. Honestly, there weren't many teacher training programs in the early 2000's anyway, and Yoga Alliance was just starting to create guidelines. In 2016, the call to become a teacher was one I could no longer ignore. I waited out my third pregnancy and postpartum months before joining a 2017 200-hour teacher training in Acton, MA with my teacher and mentor, Cindy Boulter. It was during this training ALL the lights turned on and my fascination with movement, spiritual teachings, and the practice of yoga truly fired up. I also came to realize that I am a natural yoga teacher simply because I FULLY enjoy sharing my love of yoga and my interest in the Human Spirit with others.
And....I did not stop there. I dove head first into Assist Training, Restorative Training, Trauma-Informed Training, Prenatal & Postnatal Training including inviting new babies and toddlers to the practice. I am also a member of the Pelvic Health Professionals network. Yoga books and manuals are everywhere in my home, and I share it ALL with you. I truly believe that anyone can reap the benefits of yoga and meditation, and that my reason for being on this Earth is to share, to teach, and to inspire others.
In addition to my work in yoga, I enjoy many creative pursuits. I am a published novelist currently working on my second novel hopefully to be released in 2020, as well as a YouTube content creator. I am also a Mom of three amazing children ages 21, 11, and 3. When I am not teaching or creating, you can find me with a good book and a delicious latte.
